About Rising Hope |
|
Rising
Hope United Methodist Mission Church is a small church with a big
mission. Chartered in 1996, the church ministers in the name of
Christ to the spiritual and practical needs of the most at-risk
people on the Route 1 Corridor south of Alexandria. Our members
come from all walks of life including the many broken, homeless
and destitute we are called to serve. We strive to be welcoming
and empowering of all, as we offer the living waters of the Gospel
to those most thirsty for healing. |

Worship |
Shout joyfully to the
Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness;
come before Him with joyful singing. (Psalm 100:1,2) |
|
As
a congregation of the United Methodist Church, worship is at the
center of the Rising Hope mission. Members and guests have regular
opportunities to worship Jesus as Lord in a variety of settings.
Sunday morning Worship Celebrations include contemporary music,
innovative media and preaching that proclaims the love and power
of Christ. Special services and worship events are planned throughout
the year. Each weekday at noon, members, visitors, staff and volunteers
join together for a brief Prayer and Praise service. |
Discipleship |
For you were formerly
darkness, but now you are light in the Lord;
walk as children of the light. (Ephesians 5:8) |
|
Equipping our members to face life challenges
is a priority at Rising Hope. Through small group Bible study, Sunday
School classes for all ages, recovery circles, spiritual mentoring/counseling,
and Vacation Bible School, the staff and volunteers witness to the
grace and power of Christ. Through discipleship training at Rising
Hope, members grow in Christ and encourage other seekers. |
Community Ministries |
And the King will tell
them," I assure you, when you did it to one of the least
of my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to Me!" (Matthew
25:40) |
|
Rising
Hope is committed to ministering in love to the practical needs
of the poor, regardless of whether they are members, seekers or
constituents. Obedience to the Lord at the day-to-day level requires
energy, flexibility, creativity and careful use of resources. Over
800 volunteers are coordinated by Rising Hope each year to help
meet the needs of our community. Examples of these programs include:
Food and clothing
distribution
Emergency assistance
and referrals
Drop-in center
